No Rules for Rogues Novelette
"As a appetizer...It has sparked my interest and made me eager to try your full length novels. Jane has written posts about how give aways and freebies can increase sales. Here is a perfect example of that."
(about the original short)
An impossible challenge … Eleanor Blakely is all too aware that her reputation dangles by a very slender thread, unfortunately, she’s found herself in the midst of a delicious series of wagers with a consummate charmer, and she can’t seem to stop herself from saying yes to every wicked proposition. Whatever twist of fate has kept his best friend’s sister on the shelf is a mystery to Viscount Wroxton, but when the inveterate little gamester suddenly catches his attention, she’s entirely is too fascinating to ignore. The fact that she has five enormous brothers is hardly worth thinking about—she’s thrown down the gauntlet, and he has no intention of losing, whatever the cost…
With a bonus short story, Three Courtesans, which was originally written as a blog post for the Twelve Days of Christmas (I got Three French Hens).
I ended up tossing this cover out when I decided to rebrand with the illustrated covers, but I still think this is a fun evolution to share, so I'm leaving it here.
A bit of fun ...
The evolution of a cover.
I thought I'd share how the cover evolved, because it's kind of fun to see. Here you see the original stock art (from Jenn LeBlanc over at Illustrated Romance). Then the rough mockup I sent to Carrie at Seductive Musings Designs. Next is Carrie's first pass using the color I had originally suggested (talk about dull) and then last the improved design with the couple flipped, the color brought more into line with the jewel tones of the previous covers, and the crop pulled out just a tad.
A bit of background...
Ripe for Anything is a novella built upon a story I originally wrote for the Amazon Shorts program. Unfortunately, the program shuttered its digital doors shortly after I submitted the story and it never appeared on Amazon. I put it out as a short story, then titled Something Wicked, as a free download on my website (you can still download the free short if you like), but I always felt sad that it didn’t get into the hands of more readers. So, this is a greatly expanded version (the word count for Amazon Shorts was VERY small), with a heat level that matches my other books.
